United CEO Scott Kirby reportedly pitched Delta CEO Ed Bastian on a merger that would have created an airline controlling roughly 35% of the U.S. domestic market. Philippine Airlines has announced it will join the oneworld airline alliance, becoming the union's 16th member. The decision was revealed at the IATA AGM in Rio de Janeiro on June 6th, 2026.
