ITA Airways' Lorenza Maggio to Succeed Dorothea von Boxberg as Brussels Airlines CEO
Lorenza Maggio replaces Dorothea von Boxberg, who is stepping down in August. Brussels Airlines chief executive Dorothea von Boxberg is leaving the company in August and will be replaced by ITA Airways board member Lorenza Maggio. Lufthansa Group's board has selected Maggio, who serves as chief strategy and integration officer for ITA Airways' integration into the German airline group, but the appointment is subject to approval by SN Airholding's board. Von Boxberg took the helm at Brussels Airlines in April 2023, joining the Belgian carrier from Lufthansa Cargo where she also held the role of chief executive. She will leave the company "at her own request" on 31 August, says Lufthansa. Maggio's start date "will be determined shortly", adds the group. "Lorenza Maggio is a highly accomplished and internationally experienced airline executive," says Lufthansa Group chief commercial officer Dieter Vrancx. "She knows the industry and our group from various leadership positions at different companies. "With her proven expertise, she will lead Brussels Airlines as an integrated hub airline within the Lufthansa Group." Maggio's previous roles include vice-president sales for Europe, Middle East and Africa at Lufthansa Group and managing director of catering unit LSG Group.
