Mexico's Interjet Airlines' Fleet Collapse Leaves 22 Sukhoi Superjets Abandoned Since 2020

In 2011 Interjet was Mexico's third-largest airline by passengers and was looking for a regional aircraft to support its domestic network. The obvious candidates were from Bombardier and Embraer but the carrier instead signed for 30 Sukhoi Superjet 100s! The financial logic was understandable at the time.
