JetBlue Airways is modifying its transatlantic service pattern by making its Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) route seasonal starting late 2026. This change follows the airline's earlier cessation of year-round service to Amsterdam from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in October 2025. While the Boston route was initially planned as a year-round offering, the airline now confirms operations will pause during the northern winter months, with the final 2026 outbound flight departing Boston on October 23 and restarting on March 27, 2027.

Since beginning Amsterdam service in August 2023, JetBlue’s efforts to establish a firm foothold at this key European hub have faced challenges. After successfully securing slots at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport and launching routes from both JFK and BOS, the airline has observed fluctuating passenger demand and yields that vary significantly across seasons. The seasonal shift aims to capitalize on higher fares and fuller flights during peak travel months while avoiding weaker winter demand that strains profitability.

The Boston-Amsterdam route is operated with JetBlue’s Airbus A321LR aircraft, featuring 138 seats divided among 24 Mint business class seats, 24 Even More Space premium economy seats, and 90 Core economy seats. Flight duration for the eastbound leg averages about seven hours and three minutes, while the westbound return is longer, around eight hours and eleven minutes under summer conditions. Winter flights would face longer block times of about eight and a half hours due to prevailing winds, adding operational complexities and costs.

Traffic statistics reveal that JetBlue transported a total of 325,096 passengers between the US and Amsterdam from August 2023 through April 2026. JFK flights contributed 166,898 of those travelers, with Boston accounting for 158,198 passengers despite a later launch and winter suspensions during the 2024/2025 period. Year-round service resumed from Boston, but load factor analysis shows significant seasonal variation in demand.

In particular, winter months yielded disappointing load factors on the Boston-Amsterdam route. For example, January 2026 posted a low 61.3% load factor overall, with only 51.8% of seats filled on flights departing the US, indicating weak outbound demand. In contrast, peak summer months reached stronger performance, such as an 83.8% load factor in August 2025. These fluctuations have driven JetBlue’s decision to revert Boston services to a seasonal operation aligning with the northern summer travel season.

JetBlue’s reduced winter activity is notable beyond Boston. For November 2026, JetBlue plans to serve four European routes from the US: daily flights from Boston to London Heathrow (LHR) and Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG), and from JFK, twice-daily to LHR and daily to CDG. This marks a 17% reduction in November departures compared to 2024 and 2025, and a 25% decrease from November 2023, when seven European routes were flown including Boston and JFK to Amsterdam and flights to London Gatwick, which is no longer served.

This scaling back signals JetBlue’s strategic adjustments amid competitive and seasonal demand pressures on its Europe network. The shift to seasonality on Boston-Amsterdam brings operations in line with passenger flows, optimizing yield management and fleet utilization. While summer demand remains robust, winter offerings have proved less sustainable, prompting JetBlue to focus resources on routes and schedules that deliver improved economic performance.

JetBlue is part of a broader trend among transatlantic carriers increasingly adopting seasonal scheduling to boost efficiency. Airlines are responding to higher off-peak costs and weaker demand by suspending or reducing winter long-haul frequencies, concentrating capacity during profitable summer months. For JetBlue, this operational realignment helps refine its transatlantic portfolio following entry into competitive European markets since 2023.

The Boston-Amsterdam route remains a key link in JetBlue’s international expansion plans but will now primarily offer flights when demand and yields justify year-round operations. With the confirmed seasonal schedule starting October 2026, JetBlue will monitor market conditions closely but has set a clear timetable aligning with established IATA slot seasons to maximize efficiency and passenger appeal.

Redbird Flight Unveils New G1000 NXi Emulator and Modular Simulator Panel

Redbird Flight announced a series of software and hardware upgrades for its aviation training devices on Tuesday. The first releases include a new G1000 NXi software emulation and an interchangeable instrument panel known as the E001 Enhanced Aircraft panel. Updated NXi Software The G1000 NXi emulation is scheduled for release Aug. 17. Redbird said the software was developed from the ground up and offers improved graphics, faster processing and additional functions for training in technically advanced aircraft. Features include Synthetic Vision Technology, HSI mapping on the primary flight display and Garmin SafeTaxi airport diagrams. "Flight training providers—from local flight schools to large, academy-style, Part 141 programs—continue to express a desire for highly realistic training devices that emulate exactly what their customers will experience in their aircraft fleet," Redbird CEO Charlie Gregoire said in the company's announcement. Chase Opens Expansive New Sapphire Lounge at DFW with Unique Whiskey Bar

We're seeing credit card issuers invest in airport lounges like never before, including Amex Centurion Lounges , Capital One Lounges , and Chase Sapphire Lounges . Chase in particular has been doing an impressive job with the pace at which it's opening lounges. Over three years ago, we learned how a Chase Sapphire Lounge would be coming to DFW. There's now an update, as this lounge is open as of today, and it looks quite special, and like it might be one of the best in the network. I can't wait to check it out! Basics of the new Chase Sapphire Lounge DFW Today (Thursday, July 16, 2026), a Chase Sapphire Lounge is opening at Dallas Fort Worth Airport (DFW). The lounge is located in Terminal D, near gate D25, above the concourse (all terminals at the airport are connected airside). The lounge is open daily from 5AM until 10PM. The split-level lounge is roughly 18,000 square feet, so it's one of the larger locations in the network, just slightly smaller than the locations in New York LaGuardia (LGA) and Philadelphia (PHL) . The Chase Sapphire Lounge DFW is described as capturing "the vibrant duality of Dallas and Fort Worth," "blending modern sophistication with western heritage into every thoughtfully designed detail." In terms of amenities, the lounge features: A dedicated whiskey lounge, with guided pairings and a custom barrel selection Chef-curated dining from Encina (a Bishop Arts District restaurant), with local beverage partnerships including Fort Worth's Cherry Coffee A dedicated wellness zone with Face Haus facials, shower rooms, and resting pods A signature bar with a wine list from Parcelle, along with signature and regionally inspired cocktails Flexible working spaces with varied seating, movable laptop tables, and sapphire-blue tiled fireplace Peloton stretches and meditations available on guests' phones and tablets, which will be rolling out to all lounges A kids room and private nursing room Below you can find some pictures that Chase has shared of the new lounge. With this lounge now opening, that means the two Chase Sapphire Lounges officially in the pipeline are in Los Angeles (LAX) and Miami (MIA) . Chase Sapphire Lounge DFW entrance Chase Sapphire Lounge DFW seating Chase Sapphire Lounge DFW seating Chase Sapphire Lounge DFW seating Chase Sapphire Lounge DFW seating Chase Sapphire Lounge DFW whiskey lounge Chase Sapphire Lounge entry requirements As a reminder, here are the entry requirements for all Chase Sapphire Lounges: Those with a Priority Pass™ Select membership through the Chase Sapphire Reserve® Card ( learn more ) can access the lounge an unlimited number of times, with up to two complimentary guests; this also applies to those with the Ritz-Carlton Credit Card , which is no longer open to new applicants Those with a Priority Pass™ Select membership issued through any other means can access any Chase Sapphire Lounge in the United States once per calendar year at no additional cost (that's one visit across all lounges, not per lounge), and guests aren't complimentary; subsequent visits, as well as guests, will be charged an entry fee of $75 If you don't have a Priority Pass™ Select membership, you can outright buy access to the lounge for $100 per person per visit, subject to availability Chase Sapphire Lounges are only accessible within three hours of departure, unless you're connecting, in which case you can access it earlier DFW now has the credit card lounge trifecta, and more! DFW is the latest airport to get lounges from all three credit card issuers. It's the third airport where that's the case, as Las Vegas (LAS) and New York Kennedy (JFK) also have lounges from all issuers. I guess one could argue that New York LaGuardia (LGA) has it as well, if you want to count the Capital One Landing as a lounge , rather than as an airport dining concept. Now, I'd argue this will be the all-around strongest lounge setup all three credit card issuers have at any one airport. That's because the lounges in Las Vegas aren't great, while the lounges at New York Kennedy are quite limiting, given that they're all in Terminal 4, and terminals aren't connected airside there. It even goes beyond that. Not only does DFW Terminal D now also have a Plaza Premium Lounge , but it also has the United States' first Plaza Premium First Lounge location, for those looking for an even more elevated experience (at a cost). So talk about being spoiled with choice, and being able to go on a "lounge crawl" (well, assuming there aren't waitlists to get in). DFW now has lounges from three card issuers Bottom line A Chase Sapphire Lounge is opening as of today in Terminal D at Dallas Fort Worth Airport (DFW). The split-level lounge takes up roughly 18,000 square feet, and has some unique features, including a first-ever whiskey lounge concept. DFW Terminal D is now quite the lounge powerhouse, between this, the Amex Centurion Lounge, the Capital One Lounge, the Plaza Premium First Lounge, etc. What do you make of the new Chase Sapphire Lounge DFW?
