Dallas Fort Worth Debuts Spacious New Chase Sapphire Lounge with Whiskey Tastings and Spa
Chase opens an 18,000-square-foot Sapphire Lounge at DFW Terminal D featuring elevated dining, whiskey bar, spa treatments, and family amenities.
The gist
DFW’s new Chase Sapphire Lounge impresses with size, gourmet food, whiskey tastings, and spa services in Terminal D.
A new Chase Sapphire Lounge opened at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport on July 16, enhancing the airport’s terminal lounge landscape with its expansive footprint and premium offerings. Located in Terminal D across from Gate D25, the 18,000-square-foot facility ranks among the largest Chase lounges, only slightly smaller than those in LaGuardia and Philadelphia. Open daily from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., it aims to provide travelers a comfortable retreat with diverse amenities including spa treatments and whiskey tastings.
The lounge’s location within Terminal D places it alongside other notable lounges such as American Express, Capital One, American Airlines Flagship lounges, and Priority Pass-accessible facilities. This terminal is considered a top-tier airport lounge hub in the United States, comparable to New York JFK Terminal 4 and LaGuardia, due to its concentration of premium airport experiences. The addition of Chase’s large Sapphire Lounge further mitigates crowding and disperses passengers among multiple high-quality venues in the same area.
Visitors enter the lounge on the main floor before proceeding upstairs where the majority of amenities reside. The space features multiple zones including a spa to the right featuring bookable facials, showers, and rest pods; a seating area to the left; a striking main bar with a stone countertop; and a dining room. A noteworthy component is the whiskey lounge located behind the main bar, offering a curated selection of Texan whiskeys, a custom barrel exclusive to the lounge, and staff-led whiskey tastings.
The lounge’s design emphasizes an airy and light ambiance, partly due to its view overlooking Terminal D check-in areas that allows natural light in, despite lacking direct tarmac windows. Among the comforts are a family room and a nursing area, though the family room is relatively compact. The bathrooms stand out for their upscale design and flooring selection, contributing to a more luxurious overall guest experience.
Food and beverage offerings blend Chase Sapphire’s staple menu with local flavors represented through partner restaurant Encina. Highlights include blue corn butterscotch pancakes, slab bacon with cheddar grits, and specialty coffee from Fort Worth’s Cherry Coffee. While some standard items like the popular Sapphire Noodles are absent, the buffet has been praised for its taste and variety, with bacon noted for its high quality and smoky flavor reminiscent of prior acclaimed versions used in local lounges.
The beverage program includes an extensive bar with innovative cocktails tailored specifically for Sapphire lounges, complementing the dedicated whiskey lounge’s offerings. Guests can expect a refined drinking experience with lounge-exclusive cocktail creations. This combination of skilled mixology and curated whiskey options presents a distinctive beverage environment unusual among airport lounges.
The spa area advances the lounge experience through services such as facial treatments available in dedicated rooms, relaxation pods offering private spaces for rest or meditation, and showers. Peloton-guided stretches and meditations are accessible on personal devices, part of a collaboration aimed at providing wellness content across the lounge network. The ability to reserve these services by scanning QR codes helps streamline guest access and optimize time use while traveling.
Access to the lounge is governed by Chase Sapphire Reserve personal and business cardmembership, permitting members and up to two guests free entry, with additional guests charged. J.P. Morgan Reserve and Ritz-Carlton Credit Card members also qualify under similar or more generous policies. Priority Pass members can enter once per year free per account but may face priority cardmember preference. This new lounge adds to a growing Chase Sapphire network currently comprising ten lounges across major U.S. airports with more planned, including Los Angeles and Miami.
With this new lounge, Dallas Fort Worth International strengthens its reputation as a premier airport for passenger amenities, particularly in Terminal D where multiple banking lounges coexist with airline and third-party facilities. For travelers seeking a sophisticated environment offering dining, drinking, relaxation, and family-friendly spaces, the Chase Sapphire Lounge stands out as a leading option.

Austin Airport Burger Hack Saves $12 by Ordering Kids' Meals Twice
At Austin airport, two $6 kids' burgers provide the same half-pound of beef as one $17.99 adult meal—with extra fries. Plus, Kristin Cavallari puts her children in coach, DFW's Chase Sapphire Lounge appears finished, and one passenger streams the World Cup for an entire flight.

Airport Lounges Face Persistent Theft Despite High Security and Surveillance
Airport lounge guests are stealing cups, books, artwork, utensils, and anything else not bolted down. Capital One seems to know it, even branding its lounge cups as being "on permanent loan."

Dubai Overtakes Atlanta as World's Busiest Airport in Early 2026
The question of which airport is the busiest in the world is more than just a piece of trivia for aviation enthusiasts. As travel demand continues to recover post-pandemic, the size and business of an airport help passengers anticipate wait times, helps airlines optimize their networks, and allows governments to prioritize massive infrastructure investments. For a facility to claim the top spot, it must manage a staggering symphony of takeoff and landing slots, coordinating tens of millions of passengers across hundreds of gates every single year.
Almost $2 Million in Unpaid Aircraft Property Taxes Uncovered in Travis County Texas
Aircraft owners in Travis County, Texas, are facing nearly $2 million in delinquent property taxes, according to a list published by the Travis County Tax Office. The 20 aircraft-related accounts have outstanding balances totaling approximately $1.98 million, with individual debts ranging from tens of thousands of dollars to more than $300,000. Several owners owe more than $100,000 in unpaid taxes. The largest delinquent account carries a balance of nearly $339,000, while another aircraft-related account exceeds $230,000, according to county records. Many of the aircraft tied to the delinquent accounts are associated with airports serving the Austin area. Twelve of the accounts are connected to Austin Executive Airport, while others are linked to addresses near Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. The Travis County Tax Office said the list was released as part of its effort to encourage aircraft owners to resolve outstanding balances. Tax Assessor-Collector Celia Israel said aircraft owners who base their airplanes in Texas should expect to meet their local tax obligations. "If they own a plane and house that plane in Texas, it is reasonable to expect they can pay their fair share of taxes due," Israel said. While Travis County has collected the vast majority of property taxes assessed for the 2025 tax year, officials said recovering remaining delinquent balances remains important because those funds support local governments and public services.
